English 5-6 Research Project

Your Task: Current situation:  Students spend 6 hours a day in a classroom and are given nothing for their time.  Some students believe that it is time that they are compensated for the job training and time that they are required to be at school. Students will work in teams to simulate negotiations for a contract to be paid for their time.

:Task 1. Create a summary of reference materials.: With your cooperative group members and using the resources provided, organize and summarize seven to ten pieces of writing. that will provide evidence for an argument about whether students should get paid.

Include the following

    evidence from both fiction and nonfiction selections
    identification of common themes for each side of the argument
    ranking of the persuasiveness of each piece by numbering it 1-10 with 1 being the most             persuasive
